PARADISE LOST by JOHN MILTON SYB.Ed Book Review by Jelita Angeline

PARADISE LOST

    -JOHN MILTON

Paradise Lost is written by an English poet John Milton. It is all about the biblical story of The Fall of The Man. It means the temptation of Adam & Eve by the angel who was fallen from the heaven i.e. Satan and the ejection of Adam & Eve from the Garden of Eden. The main aim of Milton was to justify the ways of God to human being through this book.

The book begins with Milton’s speaker stating that the theme will be Adam & Eve’s indiscipline and fall from grace. It ends by saying that Adam & Eve through Eden took their lonely or unaccompanied way. Both of them were exiled from the Eden garden forever.

So I feel that Paradise Lost is a great book. Milton has done a great job by putting forth all his views about a man’s disobedience through this book. This book some or the other way is an identification of our beginning. It portrays us the first family in this world and the ancient relationship God and man or human beings. It has some gigantic epic designs. I feel that it shows us a revolt between Satan and God. So, in simple terms, what I understood was if we disobey God we will be punished and will be given under the control of Satan just like Adam & Eve. We may also lose our blessings or rewards gifted by God as Adam & Eve were thrown out of the Eden Garden.
