The Old Man in a State House and Other Stories is a literary canvas which captures the restless condition that is in Africa today, the corruption has an influence on oil economy, wealth, environmental degradation, love and much more. It takes readers to the imaginatively excursion on the human condition in Africa. The children were taken down to the farm work and were not allowed to go to school. Major problem faced by Africa Crime and domestic violence; Equal opportunity are not provided for all. Since the 20th century, the Cold War and increase in corruption, no proper governance, various disease and despotism have all contributed to Africa's poor economic state. The impact of poverty on education in Africa is one of the biggest challenges, combined with structural issues such as the lack of employment opportunities for school and graduates. Despite progress over the last decade, girls don’t have access to basic education even today. Diseases like AIDS, malaria and Ebola are not only the cause but also the result of poverty in Africa. Lack of education and inadequate medical care in most of the regions means that diseases spread faster and can’t be treated. The average life expectancy of population is decreasing and even the number of orphans is going on increasing.

Our author here depicts the life of the people living in Africa and the hardships they face not only before but also today due to unavailability of essential amenities.
