Hamlet -William Shakespeare

Book Review of Hamlet - William Shakespeare

The book I selected for the book review competition is Hamlet by William Shakespeare. The book was  written somewhere between 1599 and 1601 with the location to be in Denmark. Hamlet is considered as the most influential works of literature. This book has the type of language that we don't use in the present times. Hamlet is a revenge drama. Readers like having drama, emotions in a book. It's an interesting book with sadness, violence, revenge, drama, romance and many things one would ask for. I think this book is a perfect choice to include in literature as a curriculum. Months after the death if Hamlet's father appears at the beginning of the play. It seems that he has seen a figure posing as a ghost of his father who desires to seek revenge. Hamlet is one of the characters Shakespeare has created. There's a lot of philosophical side seen in this play. The king asks Hamlet to seek revenge for his death. A murderous person, a death monarch and a conflicted prince. This is also known as one of the best plays. The language may be a bit different as I mentioned it's not similar to that spoken in today's time. But for those who have interest in the past, discovering things of the olden Era will find it interesting. The play is written in such a way that the reader gets pulled into imagination and it stirs up curiosity and interest. The theme is death. Characters- Claudius was Hamlet's uncle. He apparently killed Hamlet's father. The Ghost was the Spirit of the late King Hamlet. Polonius was the chief counselor to Claudius. Horatio was a commoner who went to school with Hamlet and was his friend. Laertea was the son of Polonius and Ophelia's brother. Two Clowns are those who dig Ophelia's grave.

One of the dominant aspects is that we see many personalities of Hamlet after the death of his father. Revenge is seen throughout the play. When Hamlet sees the ghost at first, instills in him the want to seek revenge. Shakespeare uses this theme in almost all of his work. Hamlet is not a bad character. He just seems to get justice for his father. He is confused. Hamlet is rejected by the person he truly loves, Opelia , betrayed by his friends and his family.
